Grow a Garden Guide Updated 30 October 2026

Grow a Garden — official Roblox game image

Grow a Garden is the relaxing farming game that quietly became one of Roblox's biggest hits: buy seeds, grow crops, sell the harvest for Sheckles, and reinvest in rarer plants. The depth is in the details — weather mutations that multiply a crop's value, sprinklers that change grow times, and pets that work while you watch. This guide explains all of it. Codes in this game are rare and mostly cosmetic; the current ones are on our Grow a Garden codes page.

How Grow a Garden works

The loop is simple: the seed shop restocks on a timer, you plant what you can afford, crops grow over time (faster with water and sprinklers), and you sell the harvest for Sheckles. Rarer seeds cost more, take longer, and sell for far more — and any crop can randomly grow with a mutation, or gain one from weather, multiplying its sell price. Your garden keeps working as you play, so the game rewards patience and smart reinvestment over frantic clicking.

Getting started — your first garden

Step 1

Buy the best seeds you can afford from the shop — carrots and starter crops first — and plant every plot you own. Empty plots earn nothing.

Step 2

Water your crops and harvest them fully grown. Selling early is the classic beginner loss: a finished crop is worth multiples of a half-grown one.

Step 3

Reinvest every Sheckle into better seeds and more plots before buying decorations. Income first, looks later.

Step 4

Add sprinklers around your best crops. Sprinklers speed growth and increase crop size in their radius — place them where your most valuable plants grow.

Step 5

Watch the weather. When a weather event starts, leave your grown crops standing until it passes — events are how mutations happen (next section).

Mutations explained — where the real money is

A mutation is a special variant of a crop that sells for many times its normal price. Some appear randomly as a crop grows (Gold and Rainbow are the famous ones), and others are applied by weather events while a grown crop is standing in your garden — rain can leave crops Wet, storms can Shock them, frost can Freeze them, and event weather brings its own special mutations. Two rules make mutations pay: first, the multiplier applies to the crop's base value, so a mutation on an expensive crop is worth a fortune compared to one on a carrot; second, a crop must be grown and unharvested when the weather hits. Serious players keep a field of valuable grown crops standing whenever they play, precisely so the next storm works for them.

Pets and gear

Pets hatch from eggs and wander your garden applying passive bonuses — things like growth help, mutation luck or extra harvest value, depending on the pet. Gear from the gear shop (sprinklers first, then specialised tools as you get richer) multiplies what your time is worth. Priority order for almost everyone: seeds to fill plots, then sprinklers, then eggs and gear with what is left.

6 tips to earn Sheckles fast

1. Never leave a plot empty. A cheap crop growing beats an empty plot waiting for a perfect seed. Fill first, upgrade on the next restock.

2. Sell grown, not growing. Harvest at full growth, ideally after a weather event has had its chance to mutate the crop.

3. Keep valuable crops standing through weather. Storms and event weather are free money multipliers — but only for crops still in the ground.

4. Sprinklers belong under expensive crops. Their speed and size bonuses are worth most where the base value is highest.

5. Check every restock. Rare seeds sell out of the rotation quickly. A two-minute check when the shop refreshes is how players catch the seeds that change their income.

6. Do not chase codes for money. Grow a Garden codes are rare and the current ones give cosmetics, not Sheckles. Your income is in seeds, mutations and pets — the codes page lists what little exists.

Grow a Garden — FAQ

What is the best crop in Grow a Garden?

The best crop is usually the rarest seed currently in the shop rotation that you can afford to fill plots with — high base value matters most because mutation multipliers scale from it. Meta picks change with updates and events, so check what the current shop and event are offering.

How do I get mutations in Grow a Garden?

Two ways: a small random chance as a crop grows (including the Gold and Rainbow variants), and weather events applying mutations to grown, unharvested crops. Keeping valuable crops standing during storms and event weather is the reliable method.

Do Grow a Garden codes give free seeds or Sheckles?

Not currently. The working codes give cosmetic items, and codes in this game are rare and case-sensitive. Anything online promising a Sheckles code is almost certainly for a different game or simply fake.

Should I harvest before a weather event or after?

After — if the crop is fully grown. Weather can only mutate crops that are standing in your garden, and a mutation multiplies the sell price. Harvesting five minutes early is the most common way players lose a fortune without realising it.
