Murderers vs Sheriffs Guide Updated 30 October 2026

Murderers vs Sheriffs — official Roblox game image

Murderers vs Sheriffs — the current DUELS game by the MVS Duels Community — turns the knife-versus-gun idea into open, competitive duels: no hidden roles and no Innocents to protect, just two teams trying to out-aim and out-move each other. Matches are fast, both weapons kill in one hit, and movement and timing matter far more than the skin you are holding. For free knives, Coins and other rewards when a confirmed code drops, see our Murderers vs Sheriffs codes page.

How Murderers vs Sheriffs works

This is not a social deduction game. You queue for a duel — 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4 — and are placed on the Murderer side or the Sheriff side. There is no secret role and nobody is an unarmed Innocent: every player carries both a knife and a gun and can switch mid-round. Murderers are the knife-led side, built around closing distance; Sheriffs are the gun-led side, built around holding range — but good players use both weapons.

A round is won by eliminating the enemy team before the timer runs out; if both sides survive, it is a draw. The first side to win five rounds takes the match. Both weapons kill in one hit, so rounds are short: one clean throw, one timed peek or one careless rush usually decides them. Match points convert into Gems, the main currency, at the end.

Getting started — your first duels

Step 1

Start in 1v1. With no crossfire, it is the cleanest way to learn the maps, knife-throw timing and how much space a gun needs.

Step 2

Learn the controls: 1 equips the knife, 2 the gun, left-click swings or fires, E throws the knife. Q and F fire your abilities once you own them.

Step 3

Redeem any codes in the lobby — click the blue Codes button at the top right, or open Settings and scroll to CODES, enter the code exactly and press CLAIM!. Codes are case-sensitive, once per account.

Step 4

Play full matches. Gems are paid on match points, so finishing a losing match still banks something; quitting banks nothing.

Step 5

Spend your first Gems on an ability, not a case. A case gives a cosmetic skin; Dash changes every round that follows.

Playing each side well — and earning Gems faster

As a Murderer, your problem is distance. Crossing open ground in a straight line is how knife players die, so move cover to cover, break the Sheriff's line of sight, and commit only when the gap is short or your opponent has just missed. Use the thrown knife to punish a predictable peek, or to force a Sheriff off an angle while you close in.

As a Sheriff, your problem is the opposite: a Murderer at arm's length has usually already won. Keep your distance, hold an angle with a retreat behind you, and shoot at commitment — a landing, a corner turn, the start of a throw — rather than at every glimpse. After a miss, move. In team modes, hold a different lane from your teammates and be positioned to trade if one falls.

Gems come mainly from playing: more round wins means more Gems, and larger team queues pay slightly more than 1v1 for the same scoreline. Daily checkpoints are the other steady source, paying Gems and, at higher checkpoints, spins. Note that private VIP servers pay no Gems and do not count wins or kills — grind in public servers. Gems are not trading currency; they only buy cases and abilities.

Abilities and weapons — what is actually worth it

Abilities are the one purchase that changes your power, bought permanently with Gems. Dash and Soul Reap are rated most highly — Dash for cheap repositioning, Soul Reap for team rounds — while Propeller is widely considered poor value despite being cheapest. Skins are purely cosmetic: all damage is identical.

AbilityWhat it does and who it suits
DashA quick forward burst on a short cooldown. The best first buy — closes gaps as a Murderer, escapes as a Sheriff, helps in every queue.
ShroudThrows out an item that blocks the enemy's vision. Strong for breaking a held angle, covering a push, or retreating safely.
SprintA short, sharp speed boost on a longer cooldown. Good for rotations and chases — save it for a decisive moment.
Weapon BuffA passive that cuts the cooldown after firing or throwing. Quietly powerful once your aim is reliable.
Soul ReapAfter a kill, briefly invincible and much faster. Devastating in 2v2 to 4v4 — close to useless in 1v1, where the round ends with the kill.
Bonus SlotThe most expensive ability by far: it unlocks a second ability slot. A late-game purchase, not a starter one.

Skins come from cases and climb a rarity ladder — Common, Uncommon, Rare, Ultra Rare, then Legendary, with Collectible at the top. Standard cases are cheaper but land mostly on lower rarities; premium cases cost more for better odds at the top end, where skins gain kill effects and real trading value. Matching knife-and-gun sets are worth more complete than split up. When trading, check an item's value and demand first, never hand your item over first, and walk away from roulette-style offers — a well-known scam pattern here.

6 tips to win more duels

1. Read the opening before you attack. Watch what your opponent commits to first — holding a lane, jumping on a rhythm, rushing you — and let that decide whether you push, wait or change angle.

2. Return to cover after a miss. A missed shot or throw leaves you exposed at your most predictable moment. Reset and make the opponent come to you.

3. Use the knife throw to move people. Even a miss can force a Sheriff off a strong angle or stop a push. The space it buys is often worth more than the kill.

4. In team modes, hold separate angles. Standing behind a teammate lets one opponent watch you both. Spread out for a crossfire, but stay close enough to trade.

5. Spend Gems on abilities before cases. Skins change no damage, but Dash or Shroud wins rounds — and winning rounds earns the Gems for cases later.

6. Name one mistake after every loss. Each 1v1 defeat has one clear cause: a forced throw, a long peek, a rush across open ground. Fix one habit at a time.

Murderers vs Sheriffs — FAQ

How do I redeem codes in Murderers vs Sheriffs?

In the lobby, click the blue Codes button at the top right — or open Settings (the gear icon) and scroll down to CODES. Type or paste the code into the ENTER CODE HERE box exactly as shown, capitals included, then click CLAIM!. Each code works once per account, and make sure you are in the MVS Duels Community game: several Roblox games share this name and their codes do not transfer.

What is the best ability to buy first in Murderers vs Sheriffs?

Dash, for most players. It is one of the cheaper abilities, works on both the Murderer and Sheriff sides, and helps in every queue from 1v1 to 4v4. Soul Reap is arguably the strongest ability in team modes, but it does almost nothing in 1v1, so buy it second if you mainly play with a team.

How do I earn Gems fast in Murderers vs Sheriffs?

Play public matches and win rounds — your match points convert into Gems, and the team queues pay slightly more than 1v1 for the same scoreline. Clear your daily checkpoints every day for extra Gems and spins. Avoid grinding on VIP servers: wins there pay no Gems and do not count towards your stats.

Do rarer knives and guns do more damage in Murderers vs Sheriffs?

No. Every knife and gun kills in one hit regardless of rarity — Common, Legendary and Collectible skins all deal identical damage. Rarity only changes how a skin looks, whether it has a special kill effect, and what it is worth when trading with other players.
