Ro Ghoul, by SushiWalrus, is a long-running Tokyo Ghoul-inspired RPG on Roblox where your very first choice — flesh-eating Ghoul or the CCG investigators who hunt them — decides your weapon, your base and how you progress. The grind is famously long, but it makes much more sense once you understand trainers, reputation and RC Cells. Start with the free Yen and RC on our Ro Ghoul codes
Ro Ghoul drops you into an open-world city at war between two factions. Ghouls survive by hunting humans and rival ghouls, while investigators from the Commission of Counter Ghoul — the CCG — hunt ghouls in return. Opposite-faction players are hostile out in the city, so even simple travel can turn into a fight, and your base is where you recover, train and pick up work.
Everything feeds the same loop. Tasks, trainers and defeated enemies give experience for levels, Yen for shops, RC Cells to grow your weapon, and reputation that raises your rank. Ghouls climb a C-to-SSS rating ladder, while CCG players rise from Rank 3 Investigator toward Special Class. Higher levels unlock stronger weapon stages and tougher bosses.
Pick a faction and commit to it for a while — splitting time between saves early slows both down. Choose Ghoul for organic, close-up Kagune fighting, or CCG for crafted Quinque weapons; the table below breaks the choice down.
Redeem your codes straight away from the code menu, before you buy anything. Codes mainly pay Yen and RC Cells, and a reward only lands on the save you are playing, so claim them on the character you intend to main.
Head to your base and meet your faction NPC — Kuzen Yoshimura at the Anteiku coffee shop for ghouls, or Kishou Arima at the CCG Tower for investigators. Speak to them to activate your tasks, then work through the starter objectives, which teach movement, masks and combat while paying easy levels.
Use the trainers next to your base — outside Anteiku for ghouls, inside the CCG Tower for investigators. Their short mini-games award levels and Focus, build progress towards a trainer boost, and are the safest early levels in the game.
Buy your first proper Kagune or Quinque with Yen, then spend Focus on mobility first. Speed and physical improve your dash, which helps you escape and dodge far more than a small early damage increase.
Trainers come first. Repeat them whenever their cooldowns allow: they give reliable levels and Focus with no risk of being killed, and completing a trainer to full progress unlocks a stat boost — only a limited number can be active at once, so pick boosts that suit your weapon. Alongside trainers, keep a faction task running at all times. Tasks send you after targets suited to your side — Aogiri members for ghouls, ghouls for the CCG — and pay experience, Yen and reputation together.
RC Cells come from the bodies of enemies you defeat. Always feed on a corpse after a fight: for ghouls that RC upgrades your Kagune through its stages, and CCG players also need RC for extra Quinque stages and modes. Stronger NPCs drop more, but farm enemies you can kill quickly rather than ones you barely survive. Bosses, unlocked as you level up, pay the biggest bundles of experience, Yen and RC — add them once your weapon can handle them. Finally, collect your reputation payout at your base; it grows with your reputation and helps fund your next weapon.
Neither faction is simply better. Both reach similar endgame power and grind the same levels, Yen, RC and reputation. The difference is feel: ghouls grow their weapon from their own body and feed to strengthen it, while investigators wield weapons manufactured from harvested Kagune, with a wider selection of styles to collect.
| Faction | Weapon and playstyle |
|---|---|
| Ghoul — Kagune | Your Kagune grows from the kakuhou organ in your body, in four families: Ukaku fires fast shards at range, Koukaku is heavy and defensive, Rinkaku lashes out with powerful tentacles, and Bikaku is the balanced tail. Spend RC to unlock further stages, and the strongest lines evolve into a Kakuja — an armoured form covering part or all of your body. Fast regeneration and feeding on corpses suit aggressive, close-range play. |
| CCG — Quinque | Your Quinque is crafted from a ghoul's Kagune, bought with Yen and improved with RC for extra stages and modes. The range runs from blades and heavy melee weapons to ranged options, so you switch playstyle by switching weapon. CCG players can also work towards Arata armour and Quinx abilities. Suits players who enjoy collecting distinct weapons rather than growing one. |
One warning: a new weapon is a fresh start, not an upgrade to your old one. Check its stages and role before spending a large Yen saving on it.
1. Do not waste code rewards. Redeem codes on your main save, spend the Yen on a solid first weapon and save the RC for its stages. Splashing code money on masks and colours first leaves you weak.
2. Masks are cosmetic only. A mask changes how you look and fits the ghoul fantasy of hiding your identity, but gives no combat stats. Buy one once your weapon is sorted, not before.
3. Feed after every kill. Corpses left on the ground are wasted RC and experience. Make feeding a habit, especially after task and boss kills, and your next stage arrives sooner.
4. Dash is your best defence. Put early Focus into speed and physical so your dash travels further and recovers faster. Avoiding a Kakuja or Quinque combo entirely beats trying to out-heal it.
5. Farm at your level, not above it. A fast loop of NPCs you kill in seconds pays more per hour than one slow, risky fight — and dying to roaming high-level players costs time too. Move up a spot when fights feel trivial.
6. Avoid fair fights early on. Open-world PvP is part of the game, but a fresh character loses to almost everyone. Stick near your base, finish trainers and tasks, and save hunting for when you have a staged-up weapon.

Neither — both factions reach similar endgame power and grind the same levels, Yen, RC Cells and reputation. Pick Ghoul if you like growing a Kagune through stages into a Kakuja and fighting up close, or CCG if you prefer collecting different Quinque weapons and swapping playstyles by swapping weapon.
Defeat NPCs and bosses, then feed on their corpses — stronger enemies drop more RC. Bosses pay the largest amounts once you are levelled enough to beat them, and redeeming codes is the fastest one-off boost, since many codes include a large RC payout for the save you redeem them on.
A Kakuja is an evolved form of a Kagune, unlocked by spending a large amount of RC Cells on a Kagune line that has one, usually with a level requirement as well. It wraps the ghoul in armour grown from their own Kagune for much stronger attacks and defence. Incomplete Kakuja are powerful but less controlled, while complete Kakuja keep full control.
No. A code can only be redeemed once per account, and the Yen, RC Cells and other rewards go only to the character you are playing at that moment. Decide which save is your main before redeeming a big code, and copy codes exactly — they are case-sensitive and often include punctuation.
